I know Leona was very wealthy. I also remember when the scandal broke out. at the time i myself was working for a wealthy couple and personally experienced the very abuses this woman was accused of. I was very relieved to leave that situation behind and return to my home state. at the time i was living in the state of Washington.
I remember she spoke disparagingly of "the little people" Autumn. Here's something you'll like. We have an outlet mall in the town of Cabazon. This was years ago when it first opened. There was a West Point Pepperell outlet which featured bedding and linens and rugs and towels and bedspreads and comforters, etc. I found some bathroom rugs that said "Helmsley Hotel" and bought one for me, one for my sister & brother-in-law, one for my mom, one for my son! I think they cost $2 or so. It gave me perverse pleasure to walk on the Helmsley rug since I'm one of the "little people" for whom she had so much contempt! Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday. I remember seeing photos of her in the newspaper. Didn't she get sued for something?. She was very unattractive. Had a consistent scowl on her face as I recall.

She was brought up on tax evasion charges. I take comfort in the words found at James 5:1-7 "come now you rich men, weep and wail over the miseries that are coming upon you. your riches have rotted and your clothing has become motheaten. your gold and silver have rusted away, and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh. what you have stored up will be like a fire in the last days. look! the wages you have withheld from the workers who harvested your fields keep crying out, and the cries for help of the reapers have reached the ears of Jjehovah of armies. you have lived in luxury and for self-gratification on the earth. you have fattened your hearts on the day of slaughter. you have condemned; you have murdered the righteous one. is he not opposing you?" wow Rosie that west point Pepperell outlet was the reason I would make special trips to Cabazon. I miss that store to this day!! I wonder if we ever crossed paths and didn't know it? :) have a good evening!
