I am a failed collector crossed with a minimalist :P I have started collecting many things, carved wooden elephants, miniature clocks, stamps, coins, happy cups! But my lack of money and my occasional minimalist tendencies, coupled with my attention deficits mean I am useless at collecting.
I'd like to be a collector - just need more money and more time, and less work and less other demands
I was a collector of unicorns for decades. As a child I collected "fairy tale dolls". Had them on a shelf on the wall and I'd gaze at them. Never played with them. But I outgrew that. Unicorns and oh all the books written by John Steinbeck, my favorite author. Wrote to him long ago and received a reply in his own handwriting which is my most treasured item from a non-relative or non-friend. Thank you for your reply Addb. Who is your favorite author?
