What does your name mean?

My name means Goddess of child birth. Do you think parents consider the meaning of their children's name? Or just like a name and use it?

There is never a single answer to "Do parents...............................?"  Parents are all unique and neither I  nor anyone else here can tell you how parents name their kids.  I can tell you how I chose the names for my kids but it's personal and I won't share it here.

    Thriftymaid means frugal servant.

  • "Nevan" is Gaelic in origin and means "saintly, little saint, little holy one".

I don't think my parents really considered the meaning; they just liked the sound and the uniqueness of it. I do like the meaning, though :)

We gave it a lot of thoughts before picking up the names for our children. We did like them too, but wouldn't have take. Them if we didn't like the meaning of them.

I'll keep that out of the public eye, but the names do connect with each other too.

  • I weigh the same as a duck.

And the Mrs actually is one, so I thought I'd take her name for a change.

I don't think my parents cared so much about the meaning. They just liked the name and my mother wanted a name that can be androgynous to avoid sexism or something along those lines.
