If VIOLENCE is anywhere in the equation of a confrontation should Social Workers be sent rather than cops to gain calm?

Now "they" are saying there are many "jobs" that cops are called to do that other professionals could do.

Here's the but!

How do you know what you are going find until you get there?

Shouting and loud noises behind a close door could mean anything. Lives in danger or someone just have a hissy fit snit.

Sounds dangerous to me. For the social worker. Who will not be armed.

    Exactly the point.  When an officer comes into a situation....they often have no idea what they are walking into. And the situation can change quickly. 

    They have to access the scene constantly. 

    I do not see how sending a social worker alone into a situation were there has already been violent is safe for the sw or the victim being responded to.  Perhaps a social worker could come along with the police so the police can step in if needed.
