Once you hire an employee would you "just let him be himself" or "just let her be herself"? Accept whatever is delivered without objection?

Or would there be requirements of an employee vis a vs performance in the job, deportment, dependability, honesty and have the ability to work well with others?

You don't just hire and then whatever happens happens. Right?

I just wonder why pols are treated differently? Any idea?

    There’s a certain code of conduct I expect them to adhered to, such as – be on time, don’t steal (time or property), do what I tell you (I am the boss), and such.  If they can’t or won’t do that, then they can move on.  They asked me for the job, I didn’t ask them.

    Ever work somewhere where one employee gets away with murder? Comes in late. Chats on the phone with friends. Does personal business using company resources? Doesn't pull his/her weight? I wonder if every company has one such as that? Thank you for your reply Shuhak! :)

    Yes, I have!  I can’t stand people like that!!!  As my night crew manager once said, “You asked us for this job, we didn’t ask you.  If you don’t want to do it, then there’s the door!”

    I don't get sluff offs at all Shuhak. It seems to me to be a matter of being the best you can be. Not for anyone but for yourself. I mean if you could do better and you don't because you want to see what you can get away with I don't get how anyone would be happy with that. I always try to do my very best for me. I'd feel guilty if I didn't. Of course I also OWE that to the company that hired me but I owe me too. I know there are folks who get off on what they can get away with. Are they nurtured or natured like that? Thank you for your reply! :)
