I'm going to ask this question with no underlying motive. No ax to grind. I'm stymied and I could use your insight. Wanna answer?

Setting aside all politics totally.

Isn't surviving a primary desire of living beings? If you aren't alive nothing else matters.

So why would anyone value their own lives so little that they would ignore ways to preserve them?

To me it would be akin to seeing a bottle of liquid labeled POISON and drinking it. Sure maybe you could survive but chances are you wouldn't.

Why would anyone gamble with their own lives if they had alternatives? Even the most selfish self-centered person who cares nothing about others wants that, true?

Isn't that why we take prescription meds? Why bother elsewise if we didn't want to survive?

So can anyone answer me that?
