Does it always say there are 20 muggers active?

i clicked to go to the next line and it just posted an incomplete question.
any way is that correct?
Is that all that the site can list as online?
i've never seen more than 20 avatars listed
but i see 70 or 80 comments on questions 
but never more than 20 Muggers listed as active.

That's because only 20 users can be online at the same time.  It's a rule. :-)

21 active right now. I've seen higher numbers too, as lower.

Many probably don't know they are signed in 

You'll see different counts in different places. The avatars at the top has room for 22. The one on the side might be 20. People may or may not show up there depending on the number of people here and their privacy settings.

On the chat, there may not be an actual limit... it could cut off at 99 or something. I'm not sure. Let's all jump on at once and check! ;) But, that's not an accurate reflection either because people can be invisible there or log out.

If everyone came here at once my computer would vaporize...but I need a new one anyway.
