Are You Ready For the Coming Ice Age?

Whew!  This COULD have been truly disturbing news!  I sure am glad we had the foresight to heat up the environment by burning all those fossil fuels!  :-)

The sun has gone blank twice this month. This is what it means

    Ahem.

If you ever wondered why people didn't take 'climate change' seriously, or why people view the apocalyptic control drama du jour with just a pinch of healthy suspicion, this might offer a clue. :-)

Let this be a lesson to us all, boys and girls. Science is NEVER 'settled' on anything, and only religious whack jobs would suggest otherwise.

    LOL!

Well, we're still in an Ice Age and a little more warming then return to a glacial phase was The Fear Of The Decade perhaps 30 or 40 years ago!

Don't worry though- each warm or cold spell lasts only about 100 000 years or so, so better stock up on dried rice and tinned beans, 4-season sleeping-bags and loft insulation.

Only problem is deciding which politicians to blame.

  • I’m with Durdle on this one.

We are still in the warming phase of an interglacial period, so the next ice age will be more than a 100,000 years in the future.

But human-made global warming is occurring faster than the rate at which genes and natural ecosystems can adapt.

And most people are unaware that the worst threats are inevitable and imminent within our lifetime, not for any religious reason, but based purely on the outcomes of what climate-scientists have now measured. Even those who prepare will not be able to avoid the end. The best they can do is minimise the worst of the suffering for themselves and loved ones.

The big chill will be gradual unless there is a major catastrophe such as The Yellowstone volcano exploding or a nuclear winter. It's way too complex as many things must occur. Durdle is correct, though...we are in the warming phase now which will indirectly affect gradual cooling.

As I understand it, t is possible for warming to trigger a new cold phase, and the actual changes can be rapid, geologically! It was explained to me by a friend who has studied how Ice Ages behave in order to understand their geological effects, but I wasn't sure I quite understood it beyond it involving major changes in ocean circulation.

I like Transquesta's witty remark about the Sun going "blank" though"!
