Gary Johnson keeps plugging along as if nothing happened. I guess ignorance is not an obstacle in politics is it?

He asked "what is Aleppo" and he couldn't name a world leader he admired. Do we want a president who doesn't know those things?

  • It really wasn't that big of a deal IMHO.  There are much more important things our country needs to worry about right now.

Really? And  you have zero problem with an abjectly ignorant president? How do you think ignorance would serve your country Glis? Seriously? Thank you for your reply! :) This post was edited by RosieG at October 8, 2016 10:24 AM MDT

  • Everyone is ignorant on something.  I'd actually rather a politician who is comfortable to admit his ignorance about a topic than one who just babbles along trying to hide the fact they are ignorant about an issue. Which is what 99.9% of our current stock does on a daily basis.   I'd also mention IMHO their are more dire issues to be concerned about that affect the people these people are elected and who's interest their job is to protect.  The American people.

No disrespect intended m'dear but you are an enabler.  You settle for ignorance where ignorance is inexcusable. Knowing what Aleppo is should be basic knowledge for EVERYONE not just pols who want to be prez. If you are remotely conscious you would know that Aleppo is the center of the Syrian massacres where people are being slaughtered daily. Also I bet you can name a world leader whom you admire. Gary Johnson could not do that. That is remarkably dense. You assume those are anomalies and that the rest of him is competent. Why would you assume that?  You should pay attention to the tracks he has already left and not dismiss them or write them off as inconsequential. Knowing about an arcane law in a remote unknown area of the world is not the issue here. Would you want a prez who was illiterate? One who could not read or write? Well that's comparable to the basic level of Johnson's ignorance. Just the tip of the iceberg. There is probably a lot more nothing beneath the surface than something. Someone once said "when someone shows you who he is believe him the first time" . She also said "when yo know better you do better". I don't think Johnson knows better. Thank you for your reply Glis . This post was edited by RosieG at October 9, 2016 5:06 AM MDT

No, I'd prefer our political leaders actually know what they are talking about.

However, as many politicians have shown (Reagan, George W. Bush, Trump, John Kyl, etc.), not knowing what you are talking about is apparently not considered a negative by many people.

Most politicians are arrogant, it can be a plus if you're using critical-thinking too. Otherwise, it can be a hindrance that can cause one to be ignorant. It does not seem to matter in politics, or everyday life for many. This post was edited by Beans/SilentGeneration at October 7, 2016 8:56 AM MDT

  • Both candidates are on equal ground in that regard.  Both are ignorant and arrogant narcissists.

I disagree with thee most emphatically and wholeheartedly! No one can touch the level of Trump's arrogant ignorance and ignorant arrogance. No one. He rules supreme in that area. If you really believe what you just wrote then I have badly misjudged you. Hillary is not perfect. She has a lot of warts. She is not  my first choice. But to equate her with  Donald J. Trump as you just did on ANY LEVEL is ludicrous/absurd/ridiculous. I'm not saying you are. I'm just giving my opinion of such a view. There is no comparison between the two. None  Zero. Zilch. Nada. Zip. Thank you for your reply Glis. This post was edited by RosieG at October 9, 2016 5:11 AM MDT

  • They're both megalomaniacs.  Don't think either one deserves our votes and we are screwed either way.
