I am up for this month from last year. Down for the year (6 weeks no sales) I do not know if we will overcome that.

Once again, the country doesn't begin and end with your town.

My state is open and help wanted is everywhere you go.

I went to visit family recently in IL. Same thing. There are jobs to be had everywhere. But many not willing to work because the $600+ weekly unemployment. Also went to TX recently same thing Help Wanted sign everywhere.

And if you read the question is asks how is it "for youm?" So my answer is appropriate to the question.

Would you take a job that paid less than you earned before or less than unemployment?

No. I have said I do not blame them a bit. I would not until I had too either.
However, the employers who laid people off who are refusing to come back should be contesting their employee's unemployment.  You cannot refuse work and still legall qualify for unemployment. This post was edited by my2cents at July 27, 2020 5:34 PM MDT

What if the reason you refuse to go back to work is because your employer has not provided a safe working environment?  Are you suggesting the person go back to work, take a chance on getting sick while they arbitrate their right to unemployment benefits?

If it is unsafe then you can refuse on that basis and the state will issue an order on your benefits.  That is how it works.

Now if an employer is being unsafe for their area, I am sure they would not bother to protest the UE benefits.  As it would draw attention to them.

I am certain there are no employers preventing their employees from wearing the protective masks etc.  Even if it is not required in their community.

I do know IF someone was trying to draw UE on my business and they refused to return to work....I would be protesting their benefits.

Once again, you as a small business owner are trying to extrapolate what a larger company might or might not do.  You seem to live in a very small world - your own.  There's a giant world out there.  Maybe, one day, you'll try and find out what goes on outside of your own little world.

Do you believe a large business would allow someone to draw unemployment on their business if that person refused to return to work?  I find that very hard to believe.  They pay a larger percent of their labor towards unemployment than I do. And if people draw on your business they raise your rate.  No, I just do not believe they would overlook that abuse of their bottom line especially if share-holders are involved.

Maybe they are talking about the Canadian economy. Because of Trump's trade war with china our economy is starting to boom because China is now doing more trading with us. Cheers!

Excellent m'dear! MOST EXCELLENT! So your country's relationship with China is not fraught with the sturm und drang that pumpkin brings to everything? Good. Couldn't be gladder that Canada is booming flourishing taking off in the right direction. It helps to have sane honorable leaders. Our so-called pumpkin leader is neither. Thank you for your reply Nanoose and Happy Tuesday! :)
