Will the trickle of people who're abandoning Trump DRY up, or turn into a GUSHER?

I honestly do not think that anything either candidate does (or did that comes to light) will cause a mass exodus of voters for them.  The reason being that a great many voting for each are not true "suporters", but are backing them because the thought of the other candidate being elected scares the crap out of them.

  • Exactly.  Few are actually voting for someone.  The vast majority are voting againstsomeone.  The whole election is gonna be decided by protest votes.

If this farce goes like I expect it to, Trump will pull out of the race at the last minute--too late to pick a replacement, but soon enough to scatter his voter base. WE HAVE BEEN HAD! This post was edited by Transquesta at October 8, 2016 4:37 PM MDT

I have no crystal ball on what will happen over the next month...but we were "had" long ago, imho.

    Correct.

What gets me is why the dumba$$ masses haven't come up to speed.

It's scary outside of the "matrix".

I liken it to standing on a hill being able to see both the unsuspecting herd of sheep and the approaching wolves.  You know it's coming.  You know the carnage is gonna be horrendous, but despite multiple instances of trying to warn the shepherds nobody listens.

C'est la vie.  Some people--hell, most people--just flatly refuse NOT to be eaten.

True, but we are not going to escape the carnage...

Prolly not.  Hopefully, though, chance will afford us the opportunity to scream "I told you so" right before the hammer comes down.

    Small comfort, that...very small.

    Minuscule, I'd say.

    Addendum:

I don't have a crystal ball, either, but this game of voter rope-a-dope is so bloody obvious that a penchant for prognostication really isn't needed.

Back before any of the early campaigns even got started, I really thought we were going to have a Hillary-Jeb faceoff this election.  I still think we would have had a lot of ordinary folks not thrown their support behind both Trump and Sanders early on.

I'd like to think Americans would 'do the right thing' in a situation such as this where there really are no realistic alternatives--that they'd simply stay home on electoral farce day--but this is a cycle which has repeated itself for as long as I've been alive, and people still dutifully show up to the polls as if they had any choice whatsoever.

This SHOULD be the year/election when non-participation shatters all records, but we both know the sheep will show up to the abattoir gates in droves.  I'm sure they think it's their 'patriotic duty' or some similar reiteration of grade school civics class bovine excrement.

The whole thing is depressing as hell.  Not because the election is rigged, hell, it's always been rigged, but because the people are so damned militantly stupid!

It is easy for us to see, TQ.  But that initial eye-opener isn't easy for people to accept, so they stay with what they know, what's comfortable, "safe" in their view.

    Agreed.  I didn't wake up until 1993.
