Did you ever get the feeling you were being stalked here?

Not really stalked, but there used to be some fellow who was always sending me a friend request no matter how many times I turned them down and once even told him I didn't want to accept and to please stop asking.  He stopped for a while and the started again, but JA took care of it.  I don't think I was the only one.

Why did you turn him down? Was he a douche?

I believe I remember him. You were not the only woman with/to whom he did that.

Correct.  Others complained and I believe JA banned him from the site.

Sure. It's part of its charm, isn't it?

Come on, stuff like that never happens here!  This is a family show!

(By the way, would you mind leaving a few more lights on inside your home at night?  It’s getting more and more difficult to see you moving around when you keep it so dark in there.  It’s almost as if you don’t want anyone watching you through your windows. Hey, wait . . . )

Not necessarily “stalked” (as if someone would want a piece of me), but a couple of years into my membership back in the AnswerBag days, there was a time period in which someone used her or his sockpuppet account to follow almost every post I submitted, either question, answer or comment and shoot lighthearted jabs at me. The majority of the jabs were based on my grammar policing, but certainly not all of them. The person was never outwardly rude to me, never profane, never vulgar, never threatening, and we engaged in banter with each back and forth as time went by. Whenever I asked for or otherwise tried to extract an identity from her or him, my queries were always laughingly brushed off. I believe that the manner of interaction showed that the person was most likely on my list of friends, but I don’t know for sure. The reason I have continually written the female gender first is that I believe the person was a woman, based on certain things in the posts, but she or he was also very careful to always remain ambitious ambiguous on that aspect of our communication, surely in an effort to keep me guessing. Her or his style of writing was not only an indication of high intelligence and high wit, it was also completely well thought out so as to never give clues of identity. The posts never alluded to other members, only to me and the writer, so they were not in defense of anyone I had grammar-cited. I perused the person‘s profile, it was a brand new account, and 100% of her or his posts were answers or comments to me, never once to any other person or group of people.

Just as suddenly as the posts appeared, after a few months, they one day stopped abruptly, never to contact me again.

Hopefully, if she or he is currently* a member here today and reads this, I hope it causes a sly smile to form across her or his lips.

((((P.S. I have always suspected that I knew who she was; a couple of weeks into the caper, I sent her a private message challenging her to confess, it fell on deaf ears.  Further evidence that I may have been right, if you ask me.))))

Did you mean ambitious ambiguous here?

    *Stu-bait was funny.

I can't wrap my head around having the time or interest to do the kind of thing you described. I sincerely feel bad for someone who does.

She was certainly into me, but then again, I get that a lot.

Remember that Eddie Murphy stand-up special in the 80's that really made him super famous? Remember the name of that?
