    It is a common phrase in the Navy and I presume the other military branches. It can mean please wait until I get more information. It can also mean a warning, such as "Stand by for heavy seas."

    It doesn't mean go away or stand down. It means "more to come...be ready". Saying that to racist crackpots? Well right now they are kvetching bigly because the duck is in quarantine due to the virus. HE MAY BE DYING. He is old fat male and has underlying conditions. He dies then what? Will the racist potential murderers still standy by? Waiting for what? A command from the grave? Sheesh! Thank you for your reply E and Happy Friday to thee! :)
