Do his toady sycophants cheat on his behalf hoping he will survive? What would you do if the duck were your guy and you had everything you own bet on him?
Evil people are only loyal to themselves. They feign devotion to another when it’s advantageous to them. However, if that advantage ceases, they’ll abandon them for another. This is especially true in politics. Before the election in 2016, the republicans hated trump. Yet once he won, suddenly they were his ever devoted followers. If he goes, they’ll quickly deny him and try to make nice with someone else.
Sometimes cheaters DO win. They may even prosper from cheating (much to the dismay of the non-cheaters). However, eventually they will have to face the consequences of their actions. It may not be immediate, but it will happen. And when it does, they usually lose considerably more than they gained by cheating. Those who play with fire eventually get burned.
