No. He wants to see the crowd and see Joe to react to the both them in real time. To make sure no one is helping old Joe in the back ground. And to make sure microphones are not played with during the debate.
Debate commission should have spoken with the candidates and asked for agreement before announcing the new format.
No, its because he can't interrupt a virtual debate and make it all about him. he even said so himself!!!
