Any of you write blogs or follow them? Why?

What is their purpose?

Sometimes people just need to get something out so they can deal with it. 
Sometimes it is to try and help others or explain how to do something.  

Are they like those deadly boring Christmas letters some folks send telling us about what a SPLENDID year they had and how their kids are superbrilliant excellent and all that other gabout me me me me me? Some probably are. The ones I have read were telling me specifically how to do something (cooking or a craft) 

I don't care about someone's day.to day activities either.

Oh? You mean a person who is very good at something shares the "how to"? So it's kind of like a DIY program?  Do it yourself and here's how? Okay then. That makes sense but I wonder why its called a BLOG and not "The Crochet Corner" or something like that? Thank you for the info. I did not know. .Now I do thanks to you! :)

Blog is just a catch all term for a person posting their opinion on a topic. Be it how to, political, self help or just sharing their life.

Opinion or KNOWLEDGE m2c? If someone knows how to do something I'd like to learn and is willing to share how then there is no opinion right?  So what do they call them? I'd click on "crocheting by Charlotte" but if she doesn't list what she knows how to do how would I know what she does? I like clarity. Thank you for your reply. I think of BLOG as the junk drawer. Anything you don't know what to do with but don't want to discard goes there. Eventually it is so jammed up with stuff you can hardly open it. Thanks m'dear! :)
