States where early voting by mail-in ballot would be in a position to possibly affect the outcome of the election for those who haven't yet voted should that information become public knowledge. What i don't understand is why all 50 states don't have the same rules and regulations when it comes to voting for a president.
Right...we know someone would leak the tally. Not the same laws because the Constitution says elections are a states right. So each state gets to make their own laws.
I know what the Constitution says. I'm saying that the conditions that existed when the Constitution was written and the conditions that exist today are so different that perhaps some changes need to be made.
Of course that info would not be released. Or ought not be. States' Rights. Independent governments with independent governors and legislatures. The character and nature of the states are so disparate L. I think whatever the federal rules were you'd have those who would ignore them as they do now. People being what they are...at least some of them...no dam* good or rather up to no dam* good. Thank you for your reply! :)

i read on the internet yesterday that the Republican legislatures in one or more states did not allow their state to begin counting early---that would be consistent with Trumps plan to prevent ballots from being counted if they were received after election day.
Like Stephen Colbert observed last night on "A Late Show," Trump put the d.i.c in dictator.
There are only 17 states that count ballots before election day. There are 16 that start during the election day. There are 17 states that start after election day polls close.
It corrected your post. You made it sound as if Rep were changing their laws to make it more complicated. They did not. They followed the laws already on their states books. 17 states not all Rep either.

Spunky already gave the correct answer. The results would be leaked and it would/could affect the upcoming vote.
Not a matter of fear...I do not fear posting anything here. So I did not need to answer the question.

Dick? Tricky dicky? Sticky wicket. SIGH. Yes of course. Makes sense. In fact why count any ballots at all. Just declare victory and let it go at that. Wonder how the electorate would react? Would the Repubaccans revolt or go along once again with the dumb cluck duck? I shall ask! Thank you for your reply tom and Happy Saturday to thee and thine! :)
