Why would he limit his supporters to ONE WAY  HIS WAY? Why would he not want to accommodate ALL OF THEM?

No do over! BAD error. Once again he shoots himself in the foot.

    I believe it was.  His thinking was that mostly democrats vote by mail/absentee (which, statistically, is mostly right).  However, since this country is staunchly split 50/50 he limited himself.
