It has made knowledge accessible to everyone - at the touch of their fingers. It has allowed people of differentiations to come together as friends.
It turned porn from "hiding the Playboy/girl from mom", to a multi trillion dollar business. It's made it easier to pass on misinformation and promote conspiracy theories (Twitter, Facebook). It has showed us how stupid and gullible people really are (before the internet, not many people even knew about Nigeria... let alone that it has a prince).
We'd probably be worse off. While the internet has opened up more avenues for crime, terrorism, human trafficking, and "smut" (all inclusive), I believe it has also allowed for advances in science, medicine, and communication.
What are the odds that "one day" all the crime, terrorism, human trafficking and smut disappears? Goes away? Possible or im? Doesn't the pendulum always swing wide to the other side? Deviant evil morphs into "holier than thou" goody two shoes? How far does a pendulum swing? Thank you for your reply Shuhak! :)
