Back in the day (possibly before you were born) doing THE RIGHT THING was expected. Those who did were rewarded/honored. Today?

Those who dare to do THE RIGHT THING are excoriated vilified insulted attacked and finally destroyed.

It is what it is. Asking why is useless. When something is what it is there is no why. It just is.
