In the famous holiday song "Let it Snow," have you noticed the conflicting lyrics?

I have wondered about this for years. First, there's "Since we've no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow." But later, "When we finally kiss good night, how I'll hate going out in the storm." What's up with that?

This is two people dating. Not married.

It is Christmas nothing is open or the snow storm is so bad nothing is open...."No place to go"...so they will have to spend time together at her home.
At the end of the evening and it is time for him to go home..."Finally kiss goodnight. I will hate going out in the storm." ...it is cold..."Hold me tight so I will be warm." One last big hug before leaving in the snow storm.

Nothing contradictory. This post was edited by my2cents at July 18, 2021 9:30 PM MDT

Why are any of them waiting so long to go home in a snowstorm?  Go home early before they close the roads, or just stay the night.

Too late here. I'm glad we didn't go to my daughter's. White-out.

You’re not aware of the rampant controversy that erupted over this song’s lyrics during the height of the  Me Too Movement a few years ago?
It was attacked for being a how-to-script for practically everything from non-consensual sexual behavior to outright date rape. Investigative journalism efforts were made to look into the lives and relationship history of its writer, composer, most ardent singers who made it famous, etc. Any advertisers whose products were tied to it were bullied into dropping it.  Media outlets and entertainment providers nationwide either voluntarily refrained from playing it or were shamed into not playing it, and eventually, updated versions of the lyrics were written that appeased some, not all, of the opponents.

Mon frère, I stand 100% corrected, I apologize for my wrong answer, and I defer to your better understanding of the topic. I shall edit my post accordingly.

All who read this, I was wrong and he is right.

Thank you. By the same token, you sometimes are right and I very occasionally am wrong. At least once every blue moon or so, lol.

Possible you might be overthinking it. They could be just sitting in a car at the end of a date.  Try just enjoying it if possible.

Perhaps, although a fire that is so delightful would place the scene inside a house.

Sorry really did not know the words.  What I meant is why not just enjoy it (if you want to) without trying to make sense of it. Not everything makes sense.
