Probably yes, but not for the reason stated.

Had his presence on the show had a measurable positive impact on the viewership numbers they wouldn't have cut him loose, even if he had publicly insulted the wife of the CEO of Comcast. My guess is that they were suffering from "buyer's remorse" and were already looking for a way to cut him from the show. This just made for a convenient excuse.

I read somewhere just today that his severance was $10 Million.  And I'd never heard of him.  Don't ever ask me about entertainment stuff.  :)

Maybe he was glad to go.

If I were him I'd be chomping at the bit to get out of my contract.  Poor slob pulled the cork on a GINORMOUS keg of kaka!

I did not hear of him before a week or two ago but I read that people did not like him on this show so that would be a valid reason to fire him. I do not think it is justified to fire him over the comments.

Stupid and idiotic.  Bush got famous because of it.  I'd never heard of him until now.  I don't know about TV shows.  Just because some scum illegally taped a private conversation where men were talking about the kitty my opinion of those men is not affected.  I still don't know Bush and Trump is still suffering from lack of speech discrimination. I couldn't possibly care less.  I don't watch Today.

Moreover, whether I think his ouster is appropriate is irrelevant.  That's what happens to climbers who don't read their daily political tea leaves.

I don't watch the Today show and I never heard of Billy Bush until this brouhaha with Trump.  To be honest, I'm not sure he should have been fired based on an interview that happened that long ago.  I'm sure there were other reasons and the network used that interview as their golden opportunity to get rid of him.
