What are some of your favorite movies that feature a plot within a plot or an intricate backstory that sets up the plot?

 

I just watched “Out of the Past” (1947) starring Robert Mitchum, Kirk Douglas, and Jane Greer. I’ve seen parts of it before, but tonight was the first time I saw it from beginning to end.  It’s a classic film noir selection with exactly that type of story line, and I loved it thoroughly.

    That looks worth a look. 

    I can't think of anything right now other than this series I recently started watching 'Ozark'. It's got so many plots and sub-plots. Maybe too many. I haven't decided yet but I love Jason Bateman so much I won't stop watching either way.
