We know what precedes inventing. Asking "WHAT IF"? What precedes asking WHAT IF?

Dissatisfaction at what is. Desire to improve upon. Complaining and criticizing leads to what ffing which leads to solving the problem by inventing creating imagining.

Complete satisfaction with things as they are would never be cause for improving. Wny would it? It wouldn't.

So we thank the complainers and the critics for not being satisfied. Without them would we still be in the Stone Age or whatever precedes it?

Some inventions are preceded by the phrase - "oh, crap!" "or "what the...?"  (or words to that effect).  Meaning the thing invented was invented quite by accident (eg. safety glass, penicillin, Viagra, microwave ovens )

    How about Popsicles -

"Eleven-year-old Frank Epperson wanted to try some soda pop, the latest beverage craze, in 1905. Instead of spending his money, though, he’d experiment and make his own at home. He mixed powder and water and nearly hit the jackpot- until he left the concoction on the porch overnight. The mixture froze overnight, stirring stick stuck inside… the perfect handle for the new frozen confection he just created."

I wonder how many inventions were born just like that? Accidentally? Wasn't plastic some kind of mistake in a lab? If not something else was. Then one wonders are there ever really any accidents? But that would imply fate or "meant to be" and well some folks would argue with that. Me? I don't know which so I accept both possibilities.  Thank you for your reply Shuhak and Happy Thursday to thee and thine! :)
