Some gravitate toward THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER. Some read Reader's Digest. Some prefer Scientific American. Dare you share what YOU devour?

Are you embarrassed by it or proud of it? A secret pleasure you dare not share with anyone or something you talk about all the time because you want to know others think about it?

Different strokes.

You can pollute the mind with junk very easily. More easily than you pollute your body with junk food. Junk thinking is everywhere all the time. Plug in and you're set. No thinking required. Just go with the flow. Sheesh.

The only magazine subscription I have is Consumer Reports.  I used to read Life, Time Magazine, Woman's Day, Better Homes and Gardens and Good Housekeeping.  With the advent of the Internet, those magazines are no longer worth pending the cost of the subscriptions.  I read the Sunday Times and the New York Daily News.  I'm not into gossip magazines or entertainment magazines and I definitely don't read the National Enquirer.  I also prefer fictional mystery/suspense books.

Jim subscribes to Consumer Reports. I am an unfaithful subscriber and a sap for a good deal! I have subscribed to all kinds of publications. "Regular price $175..for you only $10". Who can resist that deal? Not me! I'm on everybody's list..especially conservancy publications. I get free labels all the time from them. Sometimes cards too featuring wildlife! And if you get a gift too I'm doubly thrilled. I can't tell you how many tote bags I have in the closet. I'm hopeless! Thank you for your reply L!

I have enough tote bags to last me a lifetime along with return address labels which I will never use up before I depart this mortal coil.  I get them from the military organizations to which I contribute, but also from World Wildlife Fund.  I get the cards, too.  I accumulated so many cards that I will likely never use that the last time I sent off a box with my scarves, I sent the cards along with them for the troops to send.

You are such a great human being my friend! WHAT A GREAT IDEA! Hahahahahaha. It's funny in a very great way how alike we are in so many respects. Maybe once upon a time in the "old country" our ancestors met and got along great too! I wouldn't be a bit surprised!! Thank you for your reply L! :)

It's so awesome when you "meet" someone who is so much like you and understands you.  I have a special place in my heart for the military.  They sacrifice so much to keep us safe.  Maybe our ancestors did meet somewhere along the line - who knows?

You know what song ALWAYS BRINGS ME TO TEARS?  "OVER THERE". That's when the world saluted American soldiers and looked up to them and valued them. Was it Irving Berlin who wrote that song? "And we won't come home till it's over over there!" Today's military has been politicized very bigly and very badly. Did you know that the "oathkeepers" is mostly made up of ex-military and ex-cops? I find that shocking and dreadfully tragic. When and why did the military become political puppets? Thank you for your reply L. I'm gonna ask! :)

The politicization of the military came to be as a result of the divisiveness of the political system we have.  When people cannot sit down and come to some agreement on policies of any kind, it's no surprise that the military would get sucked into that bog. Wasn't it Ike who warned us of the military/industrial complex? He was one smart dude for a Republican. I liked him. Thank you for your reply L! :)

Ike was one of two good Presidents since World War II who was also a decent human being (the other being Obama). Eisenhower wouldn't have been nominated by the GOP today. Too "liberal" (as is everybody to the left of Mussolini).

I really liked Ike too R. I thought he was a straight shooter and he was the one who warned us about the Military/Industrial complex. I guess Jimmy Carter came into his own AFTER he left the presidency and focused on building homes and going around the world talking peace. D'ya think he was a crook? Then Lyndon Johnson was involved in all that Civil Rights stuff. I know he was no angel but from your view was his presidency as good as could be expected considering he got the job due to JFK's assassination? WHAT IF JFK had never been murdered? I wonder what would have come after that? Thank you for your reply! :)

Jimmy was and is a decent human being but too "nice" to make a good President. Not tough enough.
Lyndon Johnson did Vietnam. JFK chased skirt constantly despite having the drop dead gorgeous Jackie at home. Ditto Fatso, although I confess if I'd been married to Hillary I'd have been tempted to look elsewhere as well. Nixon did Watergate, Ford PARDONED him, Ronnie was dead, Bush1 was one of the truly great veeps but didn't have the stones for the top job, I think Bush2 was actually retarded and 45 will go down in history as one of the worst ever - both in terms of his Presidency (has any other POTUS actually been laughed at?) and as a thoroughly despicable member of the human species.

Wow. Okey dokey m'dear. So one can be too nice to be a good president? I have to think about that a bit. During his entire presidency you know what sticks out for me? That he "lusted"in his heart and that he had a troublesome brother. Isn't that sad? With regard to Hilary there is nothing feminine about her. She always came off as smart tough arrogant. No soft edges. Hard as nails. Michelle Obama? Intelligent Strong feminine. Obama didn't stray. He has all he could want in her. Bill had no choice. I know that's shocking coming from a dame I guess but there is nothing appealing about Hilary. Nothing about her I'd like to be. I don't see what Bill saw in her. I suppose that's being a traitor to my gender but there ya have it! Thank you for your very informative reply. I wonder who else was involved in that decision to atomic bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki? I think I'll Google it. :)

Thanks R. Methinks I must needs brush up on history but I do like having answers provided like this. It's a lot faster! Time is money right? Time/tempus fugits. As I get older it's fugiting faster or seems to and nothing I do can slow it down. SIGH. Another question. This post was edited by RosieG at April 23, 2021 4:39 AM MDT

Online only. 70% of Australia's print media (and ALL of it in my hometown) is owned by NewsCorpse, ie Murdererdoch. Anyone who believes anything in a Rupert rag might be interested in buying this bridge I have to sell in San Francisco.
The New Daily and The Guardian are my go-tos.

Funny hunny. Great minds think alike right? I used the same example only MY BRIDGE was the Brooklyn Bridge. You chose Golden Gate because it is in the Golden State? Anyway  is the Mordererdoch dynasty gonna continue on? Do his sons have kids who will carry on that tradition or will the line die out? Thank you for your reply R and Happy Saturday to thee and thine. Or Sunday as the case may be depending upon WHEN you read this post! You're always in my future and I am always in your past. New Year's Eve is the best example of it! But I digress.
