The first person that comes to mind is FDR.

Winston Churchill for the U.K.? Thank you for your reply L! He was a very wealthy member of the elite aristocracy and he was a down to earth good man who cared about those less fortunate. If a law weren't created to prevent it he would have been re-elected president until he died. When we get a real good one it's too bad we only get 8 years. I wonder if we will ever see "their kind" again? Thank you for your reply L! :)

Doubtful.  The entire world has changes dramatically since they were in office.

So what about the Pendulum? Did it stop swinging? Is it stuck in the muck of the yuck FOOTOO brought upon us? Say it ain't so! Thank you for your reply L! :)

I think it's stuck in the muck.  Until enough voters get sick and tired of the nonsense going on and vote these politicians out, we will remain in neutral.

If you are in neutral going uphill you backslide. It kinda feels that's what's happening. The hurrier I go the behinder I get. Some things are better now with Joe. No question. But the disease of THE BIG LIE PARTY and its creator FOOTOO seems to be spreading. Is it just my imagination going berserk? Thank you for your reply L! :)

Clearly, there is still a large group of people who are Trumpers.  Nothing that can really be done about that.

I know. They seem to prefer what he represents. I suppose because it gives them permission to emulate him. Thank you for your reply L! :)

That's exactly why - following his example, they don't have to have a filter for anything they say or do.

Churchill. A thoroughly detestable human being, but he was the ruthless a$$hole Britain needed to stare down Hitler.

Seriously R? DETESTABLE? Oh dear. Another one bites the dust. SIGH. Thank you for your reply. If he hadn't been what other outcome might there have been? :)

It was Churchill who, as Lord of the Admiralty, refused to provide an escort to the Lusitania, knowing full well that Germany intended to sink her but wanting to use that as leverage to bring the USA into the Great War. It was also Churchill who sent the Black and Tans into Ireland, an act of bastardry he was never called to account for.
He was also a drunken sot and a womaniser of JFK's proportions, rating women at parties on a "scoring system" out of 1000 and relying on his shyster, Lord Beaverbrook, to paper over his numerous indiscretions.

WHAT? OH MY GAWD! Do all such men have feet of clay then? Must you be bast**d to defeat bast**ds? What would have happened had he provided an escort? Not sent the Black and Tans into Ireland? Not been a womanizer and sleazeball misogynist? I know. We can WHAT IF anything at any time but that doesn't provide us with any reliable answers. Thank you for your specifics R. Once again I did not know any of that. There is always more to be discovered about everyone every time isn't there?
