I am usually asleep within 5 minutes when I go to bed
It varies depending on a lot of factors, the most of which have to do with how tired I am, if I’m recovering from a particularly strenuous exercise routine, what I’ve been doing in the hours before getting into bed or the hours throughout the day, whether I’m actively trying to go to sleep or actively trying to do something else before going to sleep or instead of sleeping (such as crossword puzzles, reading, listening to a radio show, watching television), my sandwich deficit or sandwich overload for that day, concentrating of the tally for the tilde exchange market, rewriting the Harem rotation schematic, correcting ALL the poor grammar on the entire internet, remapping search parameters for locating my elusive lover in Minnesota, drafting an appeal for the latest restraining orders that have been frivolously filed against me, whether I’m at home in my own bed or in some sleazy 1-star no-tell motel, or monitoring the various cameras and microphones I’ve installed in the private rooms of interesting subjects for the important scientific research I’m conducting for the betterment of advancing the extent of the intrusive realm of King Randolph the First.
As you can see, I’m a busy man. I can’t just shut it off at beddy-bye time like a light switch. Sometimes I drift off to sleep in a few seconds, other times it takes about one whole minute.
