Is it ironic that the ten poorest states in the USA appear to be Red States?

Republicans are always claiming that the worst states are run by Democrats.  It would appear that the ten poorest states are Red States.

  2. West Virginia
  3. New Mexico
  4. Louisiana
  5. Alabama

  7. South Carolina
  8. Arkansas
  9. North Carolina

    I suppose it depends on how you define "worst run" states.

    It that via rich v poor.   Or which states are running the most debt...mismanaging the funds. 

    Does not matter if you make $1M dollars if you are spending $2M dollars. Sounds misrun/mismanaged to me.

    Looking at debt via states:

    1 New York
    2 California
    3 Massachusetts
    4 Illinois
    5 New Jersey  
    6 Texas
    7 Pennsylvania
    8 Connecticut 
    9 Washington 
    10 Michigan
