    I will assume you are talking about animals. Those that shed or molt outgrow their outer covering. Good examples are the chitinous animals, such as shrimp, crabs etc. We, on the other hand have skin that grows with us.

    We do...it's called sloughing. It is dead skin. We don't completely remove our old skin as we grow.
