I cannot imagine Citizen Kane or Casablanca in color just as I cannot imagine Singing in the Rain,Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Sound of Music, An American in Paris in black and white. Then there are all the "film noir" movies as well. Some say color distracts from the artistry. The movie "The Third Man" was all about the shadows and angles and mystery and intrigue. Thank you for your reply Tom. Citizen Kane and Casablanca are among my favorite movies. So too is "Yankee Doodle Dandy" a kinda musical with James Cagney but shot in black and white. It seems to me the quality of movies was higher way back when than it is now. I suppose all generations think theirs was the finest!
