What if the interesting ones start with Z? This post was edited by ONeg-84 at July 22, 2021 10:41 AM MDT

I'll find it at the bottom of the list.

Then you have to scroll all the way down.  That's spot work.

At least it has a permanent home and I know where to find it.

I agree.  It starts out alphabetized and then goes off the rails; sometimes, even a duplication.

We have to be very, very careful: holding our breath while waiting for changes around this place could be hazardous to our health.

They mean nothing to me.  I've never once perused one of them.  I look at all questions posted.  And I have noticed that people posting questions don't always care about into which category they may land.

You’re right. My perspective is that once it’s posted (especially if an when the mods DON’T arbitrarily and without notice or permission move someone’s post to a different category), it doesn’t really matter what category a member selects when posting a discussion/question. Like you, I look at or see all discussions/questions as they are presented in chronological order, I never search for posts by category.

Additionally, I agree with BB, the original poster of this thread, that if there’s going to be a list of categories, it would make sense to alphabetize it, and with SpunkySenior that no categories should be repeated, neither on an alphabetized nor non-alphabetized list.

I have searched by category a few times, it is important to me.  Randy D is correct, it only makes sense to alphabetize the list.

The "Fill in the  blank" a fun category, is hidden at the bottom.  This is 2021, time to update and modernize Answermug.

Many times, the topics listed don't relate to the question you want to ask.

I think they are.  There are 3 sections of discussions.

Statements with a Subcategories of Statements and Rosie's Corner

Questions with all its Subcategories. (In A-Z order)

And a General section with same type subcategories. This is a section that was added when JA restored some older questions that were lost during a site update.  If a cat name has a " &" instead of the word " and" it will post into the General section.  The General subcategories are also in A-Z order.

OMG, a simple request has created a rabbit hole of epic proportions.
Can someone please just fix the problem so Randy D. can stop holding his breath and we all can get back to our lively discussions?

Only JA has that power to change the programming.of the site itself.

Not enough posts on this thread yet to make it action-worthy.
