While I agree that someone of such advanced years should be treated with respect and deference, there are still laws governing this process. Now I know that there are those out there that hope that such incidents will help to open the doors to unregulated voting. Why didn't a caregiver or family member find out about the status of the registration before making the effort to vote. There is still a certain amount of responsibility that rests on the family and friends of the aged, disabled and home bound voting absentee ballots. Ironically, just yesterday, I was refused entry to a federal building because I was wearing my service weapon. Something I've had to do to others on a daily basis. I inadvertently had committed a felony, but was treated with dignity and respect by the officer who gave me the chance to correct the error. The aged deserve the right to exercise the vote, but we can't stop adhering to the rule of law. There are ways to address this such as voting provisional ballots until any questions can be addressed at a later time. It's all in the presentation.
Well, as you said, she was black. Undoubtedly up to no good ;-))
Nah, more likely she had been stricken from the rolls by some county official looking for 'graveyard voters' and thinking she was probably dead at that age.
Mebbe JakobA. Of course there is that possibility. I think it was disrespectful in any case but I don't know all the details. Thank you for your reply! :)
