We had a big thunderstorm this morning. Another one in about an hour. I guess we could truck some water there.

I really think we should stop trying to outdo ourselves each year.

It's now 30% contained, but with the high heat were having, almost no humidity, and vegagion that's so dry that it crackles when you touch it, I expect that number to drop.

Would that we could. With nature unbridled and stupid (PG&E) constant what do we do? How much more of California is there to burn? Won't we eventually run out of vegetation/trees? Thank you for your reply Shuhak. I won't ask how your air quality is. SIGH. :(

You'd think it be that way - if all california a massive fire scar there'd be no ore fires,  However, fires don't work that way.  While some ahanialte everything in their path, most like to jump around.  Therefore, once a fire is out, there are still many unburned parts.  These parts are quite susceptible of catching fire... again.  Plus, nature heals itself.  In summer its burned out, then come the winter rains, and by spring new life is growing... or should I call it fire fuel.

THE CIRCLE OF LIFE. What goes around comes around? Endlessly? Do you think a day will come when everything burnable will have been destroyed? Or that the fires will burn so constantly the the new life will never get born? We get hotter and dryer and meaner and crueler until when?  Thank you for your reply Shuhak! Last night's news said that more than 500,000 acres have been burned.  That is a number that is breathtaking.

There's a lot of brush and foliage left to burn.

I doubt this will be of any comfort, but there's worse out there:

Siberia's wildfires are bigger than all the world's other blazes ...

2 days ago — Russia is fighting more than 170 fires across Siberia, ... miles — an area nearly 10 times bigger than California's devastating Dixie Fire.

I know m'dear. I read that and at first could not believe it but Siberia is vast and so I guess the entire world is on fire. "The fire next time". A book title by James Baldwin which just sticks in my head. I didn't read it so I don't really know what it's about. But instead of flooding us out we will be burned out for our corruption and perversion. I don't know which is worse...drowning or being burned to death? Which hurts more? I shall ask. Thank you for your reply L! :)

Well, in a flood, you can always wear a life jacket.

Remember years ago the terrible toll a tsunami took on Indonesia? Or was it someplace else? What happens is that debris was flying all around that knocked out many people. Pieces of homes went saillng through the air. Some folks clung desperately to trees. I forget the number of deaths but it was major. Life jackets might be of some help of course. Sigh. I wonder how may BIG ONES (earthquakes) will generate Tsunamis? Thank you for your reply L. This post was edited by RosieG at August 16, 2021 4:45 AM MDT

I do and there was a really big one in Japan not that long ago.  Clearly, Mother Nature is not happy with us.

I think so too. She will only tolerate so much and then she punishes. Thank you for your reply L! :)
