Genealogy. What is the weirdest or strangest job, profession, lifestyle that you’ve discovered among the people in your family’s history?

Had a distant cousin write a book about my maternal grandmother's family line, appears we had witches in the family. 

There were a lot of railroad employees in my ancestors.   Before that I imagine they were in Germany in retail business.  On my mother's side I think there were some that operated illegal stills in the mountains in North Alabama and North Georgia.  There were also some tent preachers.   I must say, I am one proud descendant!!
