The life expectancy for a man my age is 78.79. That was Oct 15th. Are my remaining years a gift?

Hello:

That means HALF of the people my age and younger are DEAD.  That's powerful stuff.  Or, it's business as usual..  I don't know what to think of it, if anything.

Worry less about life expectancy and more about making the time you have rewarding and joyful.

Pretty sure more than half the people your age and younger are dead.
After all, humanity has been around for hundreds of thousands of years and during most of that time, the life expectancy was about half of what it is now.

Be thankful you aren't in Russia.
The average life expectancy of men is 75 ... and that is also their retirement age.

I suspect the very high rate of alcoholism for Russian men may be contributing to their early demise. This post was edited by SpunkySenior at November 23, 2021 1:38 PM MST

I understand the Baltic nations are notorious for that.
Though I hope it's getting better, now that we understand SAD and how to treat it.

Seems that many countries that have 6 months of night have that problem.

Every moment of life is a gift.  My life expectancy is 25% chance to living to 85.  91 is the expiration date, I always planned on leaving at 93 so that is close. However I am ready anytime at all to be taken to my eternal home.  I'll be dancing among the stars to songs of the universe.

If we think of all of our days as a gift, I think it lessens the worry load of wondering exactly how many we have left. That's what I try to do.
