I've definitely not seen that. Looks like Ben Stiller in a strange combo of 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'The Grinch' to me.

Wow! That looks so different to me for some reason! Was it a prototype or something?

No, I think it's just because the flying monkeys didn't get much screen time nor many close-ups so they are all but unrecognizable standing on their own.

They scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.

Really?  As I said, they hardly had any screen time so I barely noticed them in any detail.  The only thing about the movie that creeped me out was the disembodied head!!!

That black-and-white tornado scene at the beginning of the movie scared me SO!
I still think it's the best tornado scene in a movie I've seen (only up to the 2:00 minute mark here, when the window hits her - - after that, it doesn't scare me)

That tornado scene is quite spectacular, isn't it?  Do you know the magic behind this special effect?  The SFX department simply put a piece of cloth on a phonograph and spun it around at a high speed.  Quite ingenius, huh?

Yeah, I had read something along those lines. Wow!  :)
Not only is it believable, in addition, all the other things going on are so real for me - - all the people and their natural behavior,  the animals being let out of the barn, the wind, the wind's roar, trees blowing, door flying. etc.  :)

Tornados are both fascinating and frightening, aren't they?

Luckily, I've only endured one (1) natural disaster in my entire lifetime but, what a natural disaster it was, Hurricane Andrew!
