They are following orders. I would like to think that not one intelligent voter would vote for a candidate that could/would not debate the issues in a public forum. If they can win without it..................no debates in 2024.

There's a long list of Republicans also refusing to debate. On both sides, reasons include distrust of the media and debate moderators, not wanting to talk about policies which will then drive votes along party lines instead of the issues, and not wanting to share the stage with candidates who will not observe the norms of debate decorum.
