    That is not an intelligence test; it is strictly general knowledge. You either know it or you don't. I imagine if Einstein had taken a similar one during his time era, he would have failed miserably.

    You were taught wrong. Any word starting with a consonant is always preceded by A. A highly complex issue. A historic event. A miracle happened.

    The opposite is true for words starting with vowels. An even exchange. An apple a day. An exceptional performance.
