How would I get rid of these (E-)Mails from my Phone?

On my phone, I went in 'Mail'-'Inbox', clicked Edit-Select All'-'Trash', then it showed "Erasing all Mails", then the 5000 Mails are still there the next day, what else should I do on these 'Mails' then?

    If you didn't hit "delete" they'll all still be there.
