    Yes...and no.

    While the SCOTUS does sometimes step in and limit what the Legislative and Executive branches do, the SCOTUS has largely been deferntial to asserted federal power (especially by the Executive branch) over the past few decades. Moreover, unless the Democratic Party in the US Senate filibusters any Trump SCOTUS nominations (and makes it stick), Trump will be allowed to nominate (with probable Senate confirmation) a "conservative" justice who will (as most "conservative" justices have been of late) be deferential to government power. That Trump-nominated justice will tip the court balance roughly 5-4 in the conservative/statist direction.

    No, Trump won't be able to deport everyone with a Latino-sounding name without due process, or round up every Muslim US resident and brand them with scarlett "As." But he will have relatively free reign otherwise.
