When it was reported that Social Security had been breached, I put a hold on my three credit reporting company accounts.

I finally did that. A few years ago, I added identity theft insurance to my homeowners insurance and I get a notification of every bank transaction and every credit card transaction made without the card being present. I have probably gotten a dozen notices of data breaches over the years, and while nothing has happened to me personally, I feel like it's only a matter of time. At least I can catch it early, and my insurance will handle the details.

I have Norton protection on my laptop and I don't do any banking or credit card transactions on my cell phone.  Beyond that, I've instituted two forms of identification on my accounts.  If they're going to get me, they're going to get me.

I'm too old too deal with it if it happens. So, I have taken steps to protect myself, including adding an identity theft rider to my insurance.
