Why does Earth’s beyond atmosphere gets extremely hot, & extremely cold (in other layer) before it’s to the outer space?

If the rocket goes back to Earth, does the rocket have to go through very scorching (air) that’s very large in space, or should it go through from the night side, that at night you see stars, but as if the upper part of the atmosphere is about 4000 degrees, would it blot-out the stars you can see-(as if it’s day time)-heard it from a space movie, & read it and looked at pictures from a science book about it.
That if a person will start in outer space to fall to Earth, it need astronaut suit & it probably cannot move from there because there’s no oxygen in space, right?
Besides, does it need a heavy-very strong armored protection too, if it really attempt to move down towards to Earth when it‘s in outer space?
