Romania courts annulled their Presidential election. Should this be allowed?

An independent candidate won the first round.  They are saying Russia backed him.  Should it matter, or should the will of their voters be what matters?

We don't have enough problems with elections here, you're concerned about Romania?

So annulling the will of their people is fine, because it was there and not here?

And YES, we do have enough problems with our own elections.  We should secure them.

    (ID, in person, paper ballots)

We should also keep up with what the other countries who claim to be democracies are trying to pull off so ours do not try it here.

I look forward to your questions about France and South Korea, since you keep up with all the global politics.

France...they are redoing there gov, forcing their PM to resign. And there are calls for Macron to resign as well.   I don't care unless they cheat in their election, because it may give our cheaters ideas.

Remind us again what you posted about the Venezuelan elections and the will of the voters there.

Nicaragua? Reagan's solution seemed to be, "they elected someone we don't like, so we'll bomb the cr@p out of them. Or cut deals with terrorists and arm the rebels on the proceeds". (The Taliban used to be called Mujahideen and Reagan armed them when Afghanistan was invaded by the Soviet Union, and Bin Laden was a CIA operative who went rogue).

Romania is a sovereign nation.  It is none of our business what they do any more than it's their business what we do.

So how do we secure our elections?

How is it that none of our elections had major issues until Trump LOST in 2020?  Now, all of a sudden, our elections are insecure?  I think not.

There has always been some election interference and fraud.  It became an enormous problem when some states started allowing votes to be counted for weeks after the election, along with increased mail ballots. While I like being able to vote by mail I believe it should be outlawed nationwide and an election should be over at whichever time all of the voters in line at poll closing time  have voted.  Paper ballots.  As to your question specifically, 2020 is the year of big change in number of mail ballots and the fraud was rampant.

Probably true, but not enough fraud to alter who won.  Perhaps the answer is a country-wide set of regulations rather than state-by-state.  Mail-in ballots are inclusive of those who aren't able to get to a polling place either because they are physically disabled or out of their voting district for one reason or another.  Those folks should not be disenfranchised.  So, let's say the votes can begin being counted on election day from the polling places, but the count not revealed for one month to allow for the counting of mail-in ballots.  Military personnel who are deployed would need that time to get their ballots mailed in.

EDIT:  Perhaps it is time to do away with the Electoral College.  Technology has come far enough so that we should be able to elect someone by popular vote.  Some of the fraud in 2020 arose from electors.  Also, in some states electors are required to vote based on percentages and in others, it's all or nothing.  That isn't fair at all.  This post was edited by Spunky at December 8, 2024 11:31 AM MST

The alleged "fraud" was so minor as to be non-existent, INDEPENDENT observers declared it the safest election in US history. Trump threw a tantrum because he didn't like the result. Like the little boy who takes his bat and ball home because the umpire said he was out.

I am sure these observers would disagree.

Yet, all bellwether counties say Trump won. And the after being so wrong in 2020, the bellwether counties were once again correct in 2024.

Mail in voting enabled the cheat.
