If at your residence you have your own driveway out in front, do you mind if people use it to make u-turns?

EDIT: I am NOT referring to drivers remaining in the said driveway for more time than it takes to pull in and then reverse out, parking in the driveway, etc.

There are times when drivers need to turn their vehicles around when driving on a residential street, and the nearest or most convenient place to do so is the next driveway they see. It takes just few seconds to do, so it’s not as if they are parking there or even blocking it for an extended period of time.

However, some homeowners or renters of those properties get angry and/or defensive and/or confrontational when that happens. I guess they see it as some sort of infringement or encroachment or violation of space, I don’t know.

Personally, it means nothing to me if it happens at my home, I guess a partial reason I don’t mind is that I even do it myself when driving. (Caveat: if it’s an extremely large, extremely heavy vehicle, maybe.  But a passenger vehicle? Come ON!)

How about you? What is your take on this?

As long as, as you said they just turn around and go.
But if they pull in a sit that annoys me.

If they are respectful, no it doesn't bother me.  However, most are not respectful.  They pull in, then peel out - destroying my driveway.

One of my neighbors put up a concrete/steel barrier across the front of his driveway (along with numerous signs) to try to stop people from using his driveway as their personal turnaround area.  Even so, they still try.  My neighbor across from me puts up a large conveyor belt across his driveway to prevent people from using it for u-turns.

Several years ago, the neighbors below me took out the block wall across the front of their property in order to put in drainage (the property is at the bottom of a hill) and to get more parking (the main driveway is narrow and shared by the house behind them).  However, before they could finish the project, they had to move.  Ever since the entire front yard of that property has become a place for u-turns - by cars, trucks and even semis.  UPS and Amazon park their trucks there and walk to various houses for deliveries.  When It snows, the yard becomes a bypass to get around cars stuck on the road.  These thoughtless people have completely destroyed the yard.  The people who lived there (prior to the ones there now) tried parking their car sideways across the front to prevent people from using their property for u-turns.  However, the current owners are elderly and are unable to prevent it.

I live in an apartment, but I would not want random cars in my driveway, if I had one. I consider it rude and I can't imagine a circumstance when I would do it rather than drive to the nearest intersection and re-route. I also dont cut across someone's lawn to save time.

I have a driveway and I don't think I would mind if someone was only using it to make a u-turn.  I wouldn't want them to sit in the driveway or any length of time.

People use my driveway once in a while for turn-arounds. I don't mind.
