Why are women being excluded more from technology jobs, even though they are more educated than men?

1. Women make up 47% of the US workforce.
2. Women receive more college degrees and advanced degrees than men.
3. They fill less than 25% of technology jobs.
4. That's an issue!
5. Why? Because by 2020, there will be more than 1.4 million jobs available in computor-related fields.
US graduates are in track to fill 29% of these jobs. Women are on track to fill 3% of them.

That depends on what they're getting their degrees in and what jobs they go into. Maybe they aren't as interested in technology?

Exactly! The question is, "Why aren't they interested in it?" There has to be little incentive to attract women to such jobs.

    Hello M:

Yeah, misogyny makes no sense..  We seem to be hung up on identity stuff.  It's not good..

  • I don't think it's misogynistic ... At first anyway ... My thinking is this ... It comes about as a result of fixed thinking, a lack of mental agility .. some people see certain rules as belonging to a certain gender ... That thinking is rooted in the past and they can't or won't change it .. the misogyny comes about when you try to point out the thinking is wrong and irrelevant and demand equal access

  • There has been a lot of research and compiling on this and it comes down to that less women choose STEM degrees and show less interest in it.

@Glis, that goes to show you the motivation and promoting technology to women is lacking.

    Hello Glis:

To bolster what Marguerite said, if you SHOWED us some of the copious amount of research you mentioned, I'll betcha you'll find that the women who seek dance as a major, were given DOLLS as little girls, and the girls who seek tech as a major were given TRUCKS.

  • Quite possibly, but who says it's dance majors or STEM?  Wouldn't trucks push more towards trades and mechanical career paths?

    Hello again, glis:

I think you got the gist of my post, yet you still found fault.

Let's make this deal..  From this day henceforth, I GET that you won't like ANY of my posts, you'll think I misused a word or two, or you didn't like my math..  That way, you won't have to nit pick each and every one of my posts..

That'll save us both some time..

They should join the Navy in a technological field.

Because of the war on women!  We employers hate women!  The conspiracy is of historical epic proportion!

No women on my payroll!!!   That's the slogan.
