Did you hear both Mexico and Canada are building walls to keep Americans out? (for a change!)

Seems walls are becoming popular lately! What about a higher wall around the White House? Oh! Forgot! They already did that!

  • Ahh but the official immigration site for Canada crashing wasn't a joke.. We Brits joke about everything.. but a website crashing kinda is real.  Personally I think people should stay and make their voices heard and keep trying to prevent Trump making a total hash of things.  Those who abhor racism and those who hate women's rights being eroded have to stay and try to prevent too much backsliding, or more backsliding. Cos if it's left to those who support Trump I truly fear for the country.

  • Not all who voted for him are racists and hate filled devils.

  • I stand corrected, of course you are correct there.. however, since they did vote for someone who has clearly demonstrated those traits... the picture is concerning for those of colour, women and the LGBT communities...

  • We'll see what the next four years brings. People said Obama was a racist as well, that he hated Christians and was going to drive Christianity out of America. They said he was going to enact martial law and remain in power. I don't recall any of that happening, and I think people are wrong about Trump as well. I'm not a big fan of his, but, as an American, I hope he does well. Some one posted a meme on FB that said, Hoping the President fails is like hoping the pilot crashes the plane you're riding on, OK, I can get behind that statement. He will have advisers, and guidance, he will find out what can and cannot be done. He was elected, can't do much about that now. As a country, we need to come together and be strong, not divided. He denounced the support of the KKK, he never said all immigrants should be deported, just the ones here illegally. I am a bit worried about the LGBT community though, hopefully my fears about that will prove to be unfounded.

  • Um if people said Obama was racist for disliking CHristians then erm that would be silly of them as it is not racism..it would be discrimination against a religion but it isn't racism.. racism is against a race.. not a religion..

Interesting though.  So if Obama wasn't a Christian, and I've no reason to disbelieve you on that.. what religion was he? Ans why did he not like Christianity?

I totally get your sentiment that it's irrational hoping he will fail..and hoping instead he will not be as bad as his words threaten to be..  I hope I am wrong too.. but there is, in reality a lot to be worried about.. when you say his advisers.. my worry is that he will rely on advisers who are totally unqualified.. like his advisers appointed to the transition are his kids...hmmm

In truth although i very much care about America and would be utterly saddened if America becomes more racist, if women are treated more unfavourably.. etc. I can sit back and observe and wait to see what happens...

  • A lot of people said he wasn't eligible to be president because he wasn't born here. He proved that he was. A lot said he's Muslim, he's not.
Trump's kids are not handling his transition, the VP elect is.

I don't blame them one iota.  This is because of Trump being President and their response to our letting that happen, I am sure.  I would too if I were them.  Their neighbors are plenty out of their minds.
