Should the Mayor of LA be paying illegals to stay home?

Can she be charged and the tax payer funded NGO she is using to do it?

Yes, I believe it is right for her to support those who are affected by ICE raids. Characterizing as paying them to stay home is misleading in my opinion. I am not a legal expert so I can't comment on whether it is legal to provide cash assistance to residents who may or may not be citizens or legal residents.  Nor can I comment on her lawsuit calling the ICE raids illegal.

I will always be in favor of compassion toward fellow humans.

Respectfully, I am only giving my opinion and have no intention of debating.

I agree it is her right as a citizen.
I do not believe it is legal under federal laws. And certainly tax money (federal and/or Cal state) should not be used. And she has stated the city will be coordinating between the NGO and the philanthropists.  That costs time and money of the city which is of course paid by the taxpayers.

I really don’t know if it is being done with tax dollars – but even if it is - I’m fine with it because Desperate times deserve desperate measures. ICE has been grabbing human beings that may or may not be an illegal and making them disappear with out a trace or due process. And it seems to me that some of the humans ICE grabs are based on skin and eye color.

So until ICE no longer has the power to do that – keep them safe at home. And maybe while they are at home give them a on line coarse to learn a trade or profession that will benefit their community one fine day.

    Cheers!

So you would be fine if Canada took your tax dollars and gave them to Mayor Bass to coordinate with the NGO so the illegals do not have to go to work?

I would be OK with it if the Royal Canadian Mounted Police over stepped their authority and made human beings disappear with out a trace or due process. And it seemed like their actions were based on skin and eye color. And the leader of our country congratulated them for doing a “good” job. Cheers!

Well it wouldn’t be fair if I did that. Because it is America that could benefit from the migrants not Canada. They are a needed/vital part of America’s work force and if they learn a trade or profession they are even more valuable. Cheers!

So we should deport then to Canada so Canada can benefit from them.

Well maybe after they are given counseling for the trauma ICE put them through. Like that little girl who was forced by ICE to stand out side in the middle of the night in her underwear on a cold day.

It is not just an immigration problem in America – it is also a lack of human companion and a lack of ICE following immigration rules. And that’s why people have to stay home and hide. Cheers!

Human compassion is not part of the MAGA playbook.

They were doing a warrant at a house suspected of drugs, sex trafficking etc.   You cannot let the suspect go into their bedroom etc, that is how you get shot.

So, under those circumstances, it's OK for them to force a 5-year old to stand out in the cold in her underwear.  Did they think she was going to shoot them?

They could of at least given her a blanket and maybe a stuffed animal.

If I recall correctly the agents raided the wrong house – so maybe a kid was traumatized because they goofed up.
In Canada if a home is going to be raided – and they know kids will be there – they have to let the child protection agency know so an agent will be present to look after the children. Cheers!

That's how it should be.  I'm pretty sure none of these ice agents would feel it was ok if it was their child to whom this happened.

Not the wrong house. The house was correct but these were new residents.  ICE may not have been aware their was a child there prior to be able to call family services in advance.   The prior residents were the suspected drug and sex traffickers.

I agree they should have gotten a cover for her that they got from the bedroom themselves.

That said I believe she was in pajamas of some sort not just her underwear.   Just from reading the statement of the Mother.
