I am generally a "Literal" Often when someone asks me a question I give a literal answer. They usually answer with "You know what I meant." I only know what you said. I believe I have done that with a few of your questions Rosie.  It drives my wife crazier and confused my students. I think it fun.

I cut you some slack ele. Because we are friends. We are, aren't we? I cut you some slack because I always give you the benefit of the doubt. I believe your intentions toward me are always honorable and so I feel I can trust you.  I don't do that with those who aren't trustworthy. He** I don't even engage with them. I have had experience with them, sometimes for years, often yo-yo like, and when I get sick and tired of it I just drop them completely. OK. I just  gave you TMI. Apologies.. Correct me if I'm wrong in my assumptions. I can always change  how I perceive you if I'm way off-base! Thank you for your reply! :)

  • I prefer being literal as possible most of the time. I cherish clarity.
If I'm using metaphor, or being oblique or tactful, it's obvious in the context.
