Did you know that if you take your area code, multiply it by 3, add the number of children to whom your mother gave birth, subtract your age

and divide the result by 2, you'll come up with a number that includes at least one digit in your year of birth?

Go ahead, try it.

What does what mean?  It's a completely straightforward and self-explanatory question.

No, it resulted in a minus number.

(Do you mean a negative number?)

In that "minus number" or negative number, did any of its digits match up to one or more of the digits in your year of birth?

It did until I divided it by 2. If I hadn't done that it would have been minus 19. How was it supposed to work, Randy?

    -19 / 2 = -9 1/2

Therefore, either of the numbers 9, 1, or 2 appear in your year of birth. If you were born in 1999 or any year previous to that, it works.

    P.S. 1992, 1982, 1972, 1962, 1952, 1942, 1932, etc work also.

    :)

I was born in 1962. I didn't think of including the numbers 1 and 2 in the half. I imagined only whole numbers would be valid. I was always good at maths in school, but thinking outside the box was never one of my strongest points. Lol:)

I already know my year of birth, thanks anyway.  Don't care one whit.

Do you know if you keep counting, you will never reach an end?  Try it.

Sharonna, Sharonna, Sharonna.  How many times do I have to admonish you to read for comprehension?  What do you do, read for assumption?

The point is not to ascertain your year of birth, largely because, as you have stated, you already know it.  The purpose of the exercise is to see if the final result reveals that any digits that match up to one or more of the digits in your year of birth.

Hmmmm, that's strange; it's usually spot on.  Do you have have more than one area code, or have you changed your area code since your mother last gave birth?  If so, perhaps you used the wrong one.

Yes I have moved since I was born. And yes it does work with my home town area code. But it doesn't work with my sister....any she has only had one area code her whole life. Not for my husband or any of my 3 children.  It does work for my brother though.

Maybe your formula doesn't work so well with Midwest area codes?
