We do not HAVE enemies.  Trump has enemies and you seem to delight in the reality of these enemies.  Who are your enemies, THUMB?  You seem to have embraced yours and voted for the biggest enemy this country will ever allow in the highest seat in the Nation.  You don't know an enemy when it is staring at you right in your face and lying to you.  Sad.  We will all pay for people like you and your blindness.  You think you can vote for a big strong man that will protect you with big strong soldiers to kill your boogymen.  GROW UP.  Learn how to think.  Then vote.  This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at December 2, 2016 9:33 AM MST

Boy you sure sound like a person looking thru rose colored glasses, I suppose if you had anything to say about it you would eliminate our defense budget and send your friends in north Korea, China, Russia, and the many other leaders around the world supporting terrorism a fruit basket for the Holidays.   I served my country for people like you to be able to express your fool hearted thinking, if you want to you can leave at any time and won't be missed.
By the way, in what way have you served your country?  It's not what your country can do for you it's what YOU can do for your country.
If anyone doesn't like this post so be it, too bad.

Um, no. The Russians beat Hitler. Had Russia dropped out of the war, the US/UK would have been hosed until the development of nuclear weaponry.

  • No Rosie, very sane.

I don't know if he'll do well in his new post, but I can say that he is a very good soldier and military leader.  If that will translate to the new role only time will tell, but it's the first appointment Trump's made that hasn't made me

  • I think that's just a bit of macho military BS Rosie.  Julius Caesar's Legions made up dirty songs praising their commander as he conquered militarily and socially.  It's something that keeps on repeating itself in similar situations.  Good commanders keep their men alive and this is not ignored by those who do the fighting.  There are limited avenues for the rank and file to express praise for their commanders and when it happens this kind of thing (macho nicknames and songs and ditties made for humour) is usually associated with an able general.

I dislike his attitude to Iran, and there are one or two other things I'm not sure about, but at least this man is capable.  We'll have to see if he's capable enough and in the right ways but it's not a disastrous appointment, I think.

The comparison to Patton is just blather. Since we have not fought a large-scale land war (thank god!) with comparably-matched opponents since WWII, we have no idea if Mattis really is a tactical master along the likes of Patton.

While Mattis is somewhat beligerent in his public utterances, I don't know if that's an indicator of his fitness for Secretary of The Military-Industrial Complex or not. I am willing to reserve judgement until he's had a chance to formally explain how he sees himself in that role.
